Communications Coordinator
Overview
The Kauai Humane Society seeks a Communications Coordinator to execute the
organization’s communications strategy, with a heavy emphasis on social media.
KHS’s Communications Coordinator is creative in their storytelling and design and is
familiar with using editing programs like Canva, Photoshop, and Premier.
Handling
dogs and cats of all sizes is the biggest perk of the job as you will be helping our
animals find loving homes.
**Candidates already living on Kauai or candidates who have already established
secured housing on Kauai within the next 2 weeks are strongly preferred and will
be given first consideration for the position.
**
Communications Coordinator Qualifications
High school graduate or GED equivalent required
Post-secondary education focused in marketing and/or
communications strongly preferred
Understanding of smartphone social media apps, such as Instagram
Knowledge of image editing programs
Strong computer/technology skills
Strong writing skills
Valid Hawaii Driver’s license, or valid out-of-state license, with a clear
driving record for at least one year prior to application
Communications Coordinator Responsibilities
Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator to tell the KHS story in a
compelling way and empower others to share it.
Oversees all social media accounts: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok,
and YouTube.
Manages, updates, and responds to KHS reviews and feedback on Facebook
and Google Plus
Increases KHS’s social media presence and engagement of followers
Tracks social media growth and successes
Writes Press Releases and distributes to all media sources
Creates and maintains media distribution lists
Maintains/Develops relationships with media & community outlets and
promotes KHS events and promotions with these outlets
Writes monthly newsletters
Utilizes Blackbaud, a donor management and non-profit marketing tool
(training provided) for online fundraising and development
Identifies potential influencers and supporters of the organization
Actively educates self on the latest trends in online marketing, paid
advertising, and nonprofit technology
Utilizes Search Engine Optimization knowledge to ensure KHS is a top
result in online searches
Completes other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $40,000-$45,000/year, commensurate with experience
