SUMMARY: Provides superior customer service by performing all cash register procedures in an accurate, fast, efficient, and courteous manner.
Performs other duties within the store to promote maximum sales, cultivate customers’ good will and encourage repeat business.
Works under the direct supervision of store management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Projects a high level of AIE (attitude, intelligence, and enthusiasm) to both external and internal customers.
Accurately and efficiently handles all register transactions including sales, returns, layaways, house charges and other related transactions in a courteous manner following company policies and procedures.
Provides customers with an accurate receipt of each transaction.
Asks and offers Club Card members (i.
e.
Craft Club or Helpful Hardware Club) to every customer.
Verifies cash drawer at the beginning of the shift and accurately balances their own cash drawer and prepares for next day use.
Assists with customer inquiries and provides them with needed advice or information.
Accurately scans each merchandise item to minimize inventory shrinkage.
Is aware of potential security, safety and/or shoplifting issues and reports any incidents and/or concerns immediately to management.
Properly uses and secures two-way radios and headsets as assigned.
Continually educates themselves about products and retains specific knowledge about current advertised items.
Maintains a clean and professional image of the checkout area.
Able to report to work as scheduled.
Demonstrates regular and reliable attendance.
Attends and participates in training sessions and monthly store meetings as required OTHER FUNCTIONS: Receives and checks incoming merchandise against invoices or orders to spot shortages, damages, and backorders.
Accurately prices and displays (i.
e.
bins, shelves, displays, etc.
) merchandise.
Assists store management in the annual preparation and taking of the store’s physical inventory.
Receives incoming telephone calls and places outgoing calls to customers.
Helps train new cashiers as requested.
Performs general housekeeping duties (i.
e.
up keeps a professional appearance of the office, store’s floors, fixtures, restrooms, employee lounge, etc.
) Performs general maintenance of the store’s premises (i.
e.
store entrance, parking lot, receiving, etc.
) Performs all related duties of a Sales Associate.
Promptly and accurately performs any other related duties as assigned by store management.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Equipment/Tools Used: cash register, two-way radios, headsets.
Occasional use of various store equipment such as glue guns, scissors, stapler, computer, printers, fax machine, shredder, calculator, and telephone, etc.
Work Hours: Available flexible hours as required.
(Including days, nights, weekends, and holidays) Work Environment: Works under regular store conditions.
Occasional exposure to heat, dust, solvents, chemicals, paint, glues, etc.
MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires attention to detail, concentration, and alertness.
Basic mathematical skills (i.
e.
calculation of fractions, percentages, pricing, discounts, taxes, returns, charges, making change, taking inventory, ordering, verification of quantities, etc.
) Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate effective decision-making, and ability to exercise sound judgment.
Organizes work to complete assignments, maintains accuracy, pays attention to details, and demonstrates superior customer service.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasional push, pull, and/or lift up to 60 lbs.
