Full Time/Part Time: Part Time - 25% Temporary/Permanent: Permanent Other Conditions: Renewable subject to performance and/or funding availability; to begin approximately February 2024 subject to position clearance and availability of funds.
Assistant Professor Duties and Responsibilities: Participates in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health clinical precepting and assessment of fellows, residents, and other learners.
Actively participates in the Family Medicine department or JABSOM faculty development activities to promote their growth as a medical educator and role model for medical learners.
Maintains educational liaison with the local hospital or health system as it relates to Family Medicine clinical rotation requirements.
Actively participates in the Family Medicine department’s GME program educational and administrative activities, including, but not limited to, academic half-day sessions (e.
g.
, provide periodic lectures or workshops), program evaluation committee meetings, and Family Medicine department or JABSOM-related community medicine or opulation health activities.
In collaboration with the JABSOM Family Medicine Residency Program Director and Family Medicine department Clerkship Director, and the JABSOM Office of Medical Education, assures the quality of the clinical and educational experience for the residents and medical students by ensuring that the requirements established by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, Liaison Committee on Medical Education, and applicable specialty board are met and maintained in the clinical site.
May serve in a formal educational administrative role as determined by the Family Medicine Department Chair or JABSOM, such as rural training track Site Director or similar.
Serves on JABSOM, University committees, and/or the Medical Executive Committee of the affiliated site, as appropriate.
Performs related tasks as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities for the Associate Professor level: Same as Assistant Professor but with increasing responsibility for administering programs in research, education, and/or clinical care; and with less supervision and oversight.

degree from an LCME/AOA (Liaison Committee on Medical Education/American Osteopathic Association) accredited medical school.
American Board of Family Medicine certification (within 7 years).
Eligible for licensure in Hawaii.
Demonstrated ability in teaching and patient care.
Demonstrated ability to effectively meet, interact, and confer with others.
Ability to establish network with professionals in other fields and to work/interact effectively with others.
Eligible for an appointment in good standing with the local hospital and/or health system on island.
Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications: In addition to the Assistant Professor minimum qualifications, the Associate Professor position must have a minimum of four years in the rank of Assistant Professor (candidates not applying from the Assistant Professor rank should have seven or more years of postdoctoral experience in a recognized medical school or major medical research/scholarship institution) or one year at the rank of Associate Professor at another medical school of recognized standing.
Proven ability in teaching, research, or program administration.
Evidence of significant scholarly contribution to the clinical specialty.
Ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues.
Specialty board certification and recertification in that field when appropriate.
Desirable Qualifications: A minimum of two years of full-time professional activity in the clinical specialty and have had teaching experience in a medical school or residency program.
Prior experience with networking and advocacy for improved health of rural or underserved population.
